In 1986, Alan O'Nions, a former private pilot trained by BOAC (British Overseas Airways Corporation) and with expertise in organic chemistry, architectural glass and aluminium, established ALGLAS.
Recognising the necessity for effective and safe cleaning solutions for glass, acrylic, and various aircraft materials, Alan embarked on creating ALGLAS's inaugural product.
Aircraft Glass Cleaner (AGC) was developed after extensive research and testing over several months.
Its final version, named AGC/22, underwent rigorous evaluation and was eventually endorsed by the BAe Military Aircraft Division.
This endorsement led to its acceptance and use by major industry players such as Boeing, Airbus, Honeywell, The Thales Group, Panasonic, and numerous other Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).
With the growth of ALGLAS, the variety of its products broadened significantly.
Among the key innovations was ALG/CR215, a unique dual-purpose anti-static instrument wipe.
ALG/RCBA, an anti-bacterial cleaning solution formulated explicitly for airborne electronics and avionics, was also introduced.
An additional and notable breakthrough was the introduction of the Visial VDU anti-static mist spray, adept at reducing static build-up on a range of system displays, encompassing radars and touch screens.
