Visial™ Aerospace Instrumentation wet/dry wipes

"Choosing suitable products to clean an aircraft’s avionics, airborne electronics and in-flight entertainment system is essential – products must be approved, safe for the aircraft and the operator and of course, cost-effective"

When did you last clean your instruments? How does your maintenance department clean your aircraft’s avionics and in-flight entertainment system?

aerospace instrumentation picAre the products you use and their method of application approved and safe for your aircraft and the operator? Are they cost-effective?

Sophisticated avionics, radars and electronic touch panels have an annoying fact in common: static electricity builds up and attracts dust.

Sweat from an operator’s finger checking the alpha-numeric read-out information and passengers’ explorations of the IFE screen further mar the clarity of the display, whether active-matrix liquid-crystal panels or analogue instruments.

Pioneering Visial™ Antistatic wipes unique in aerospace industry

On 6 July 1990, British Midland Airways became the first airline to use a ALGLAS™ Visial™ sachet/wipe, a product unique to the aviation industry at the time.

The two-part sachet containing highly absorbent, non-fluffing tissue – one wet, one dry – was developed to clean all instrumentation for civil and military aviation, aerospace and marine use, either integrated or stand-alone.

Its application ensures a smear-free finish on a wide range of glass, acrylic and polycarbonate materials. ALGLAS™ Visial™ is cost-effective, safe to use and has a minimum shelf life of two years.

The aerospace instrumentation product also has effective antistatic properties. The presence of electro-static fields poses a constant danger to static-sensitive semiconductor devices.

This threat is particularly apparent around computerised equipment involving the use of display screens and terminals where electro-static fields of many thousands of volts may be generated.

After one treatment with Visial™, the field strengths were reduced by at least 50 per cent and in many cases by 90 per cent.

Independent testing by Marconi Instruments on two separate PC's showed that after being cleaned with Visial™ antistatic wet/dry wipes, their static charge was reduced from 3Kv to 0.2Kv for a period of seven weeks without further application.

Aircraft instrument repair

Visial™ aerospace instrumentation wet dry wipes are also used by many avionics engineers during the repair of sensitive avionics instrumentation. Visial™ wipes ensure that static charge is greatly reduced and grime removed, thus allowing intricate repairs to be conducted in confidence.

Highly tested and approved aerospace instrumentation cleaning product

Douglas Aircraft Company, McDonnell Douglas Corporation, has tested and approved ALGLAS™ Visial™ in accordance with Mil-P-25690 and ASTM F484-83 using a type C stretched acrylic material conforming to Mil-P-25690; an uncompromising standard.

Furthermore, from a military perspective DERA has authorised the use of ++ALGLAS™ Aerospace Products++ to the Ministry of Defence (68-147/1), 12 years on from the British Airways’ original ALGLAS™ endorsement.

Now you can benefit from a proven solution, by using a product that is universally accepted and trusted by the worldwide aerospace community.

In 1986, ALGLAS™’ initial aim was to achieve approval from one aviation-related company.

Twenty years later, whether flying Boeing or Airbus Industrie aircraft, navigating by sophisticated avionics systems or controlling aircraft on radar from the London Air Traffic Control Centre, a common denominator now exists. Thirty three major companies endorse ALGLAS™ aerospace instrumentation and cabin products to date.
